Last Monday was Katie's 2nd birthday....with all the torrential downpours we had here we were lucky her party was the Sunday before. Katie had a FABULOUS time at her party. Last year we were only home a few weeks when it was her 1st birthday...still getting used to each other & no sleep. Well one year later we all enjoyed ourselves. I didn't make her cake this year between working full time & doing some work in the house the week before we had 30 guests was enough to convince me not to this year. Next year I will go back to making the birthday cake myself.
Today Katie had ear tubes put in both years....after 12 ear infections in 8 months it was more than time. My little beauty is a real trooper. Our biggest concern was having Katie taken away from us in an institutional setting just over a year after it had happened to her before. The doctor & nurses were great & very understanding, they gave Katie "silly juice" to take the edge off & handed me scrubs. They let me into the operating room until Katie was under so that Mommy was with her all the time. After the procedure she was only awake about 2 minutes before Mommy & Daddy were right there. My poor girl had a hard time with waking up & was very freaked out. When we were finally able to calm her down & head home we were all ready for a nap. Katie has spent the day on my going in & out of sleep, but the last few hours she was back to being herself....a little more fragile & prone to tears than normal for Katie, but she had a very rough day. Lots of cuddling & snuggling going on here. Hopefully this will stop the ear infections & Katie, once feeling all better will have even more energy than she normally does. Oh boy, that means I need to get more rest!
